Four women, three hours, one space: PLAY stages dance as sculpture and imagines the stage as a museum. Our everyday flood of digital images is countered by the immediacy of the decelerated body. Between stillness and movement, object and subject, four dancers compose their bodies as living works of art. In close proximity to the audience, they question our ideas of intimacy, risk and community. Gravity meets weightlessness, density meets permeability, falling meets flying. falling / flying / holding (PLAY VI) combines dance and visual art in a durational performance that embraces stillness, reduction and slowdown.

durational performance: the audience is free to decide at what time to arrive, how long to stay and from where to watch.

With a return to the stage as durational performance, we will complete my three year work-series PLAY, which has been staged internationally in the theatre, outdoors and in galleries.

Four women, four hours. Between stillness and movement, object and subject, four dancers compose their bodies as danced tableaux vivants. falling / flying / holding (PLAY IV) combines dance and visual art into an interdisciplinary durational performance marked by repetition. Staged site-specifically for Kunsthalle Palazzo, the historic gallery spaces open and limit the physical possibilities of the bodies as a living canvas. Oscillating between sculpture, painting and dance, the everyday flood of digital images is countered by the immediacy of the decelerated, tender and dangerous body.

touch / crash /fly (PLAY V)

FASONO Studio Berlin

Four women, three hours, one room. Between stillness and movement, object and subject, four dancers compose their bodies as a danced sculpture. touch / crash / fly (PLAY V) combines dance and visual art into a durational performance marked by repetition and the play with time. Staged site-specifically in an empty gallery, the exhibition space opens and limits the physical possibilities of the bodies as a living work of art. Oscillating between architecture, plastic and dance, the immediacy of the decelerated, intimate and playful body is set against the everyday flood of digital imagery.

PLAY V is a contemporary dance production. The performance lasts three hours and is open to the public during this time. The audience is completely free to decide when to come, how long to stay and from where to watch. Depending on the time of their visit, they will be in the space with many other people or experience the performance in an intimate setting by themselves. (Foto: Daria Kolacka)
